Assembler

Reports to: Production Manager
Description
This position is responsible for assembling machinery, sub-assemblies or mixing lapping compound as instructed. Should be able to read a blueprint and follow a build instruction.
Operation may include any of the following machines: drill press, sander, cutoff wheel, hand drill, overhead hoist, hydraulic press, hand press, voltmeter, program loader, laptop, large mixers, forklift, pallet jack, nail gun, as well as other hand tools.
Key Responsibilities

Assembly parts according to a blueprint or set of work instructions using the necessary tools. Tools will be provided.

Work independently and be able to follow multiple steps (may be up to 50 or more) to complete an assembly.

Learn multiple different assemblies and be willing to move where needed based on work needed at the time.

Run a mixer and follow a recipe to mix lapping compound.

Report all safety concerns. Act in a safe manor and help maintain OSHA safety standards.

Constantly look for ways that the area can be run more effective and report these to the supervisor.

Log in all work into the Work Order/Inventory control software.

Keep area and machines clean per the 5 S and lean principals. Parts to be neatly stacked, labeled, counted and in correct area. All scrap properly disposed of. All parts must have Part number attached and traveler/work order on or near parts until fully completed.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Be able to lift a 50 lbs.

Be able to learn how to how assemble and operate equipment safely and follow instructions.

Be able to operate a forklift and overhead crane safely.

Understand and work with 5S and lean principals.

Provide assistance with all other duties as requested

Willingness to move and do tasks in different areas as needed.
